Janet M. Harshman, 92, of Casper, Wyoming passed away on February 3, 2024. She was born in Winona Minnesota to Fergus and Mary Sanders and grew up in the apartment above her parent's hardware store and riding her trike on the sidewalks downtown.
Janet attended Catholic schools including St. Teresa's College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English.
Janet came to Wyoming in 1953 for a summer job, met Robert Burke Harshman, and never left. They were married in 1954 at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church.
She had a long career at Union Oil as an executive secretary.
Janet was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. She participated in the St. Joseph's Circle and the Council of Catholic Women, and she sang in the choir for numerous years. She also served as a Eucharistic minister.
In her free time, Janet enjoyed being a part of the Casper Water Ski Club, tending to her flowers, and playing bridge. She loved decorating for every occasion. Every Halloween Janet hosted a Witches party, where all the ladies dressed in their witch hats and brought their brooms. This party was looked forward to by all her friends. Janet was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter O. Her children were able to finally get her to tell them what PEO stands for. Imagine their surprise at learning it is "People Eat Onions".
Janet had a great love for her big white dogs which were all rescued from shelters. Her dogs provided great companionship and love.
Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Harshman, her parents, and her brother, John Sanders.
Janet is survived by her loving children: Mark (Tracy), Sharon Gray (Dave), Shaun (Jenny), Kristin Jackson (Joe), Chloe Lindsey (Lane), and Jill Anderson (Chuck). She was a cherished grandmother to Emily Harshman Palmer (Rob), Justin Harshman (Michelle), Michael Harshman, Steven Hasley (Kristen), Morgan Harshman (Jairo), Jessica Gray, Kelly Gray McCully (Jack), Molly Harshman, Erin Jackson Andrade (Mario), Jacob Kostal, Caleb Kostal, Lauren Lindsey, Lane Lindsey, Bridger Anderson, and so many great-grandchildren that we couldn't think of them all.
