Jane A. Ahrens

March 20, 1936 — December 17, 2020

Jane Ahrens received her angel wings on Thursday, December 17th, 2020 at the age of 84. Jane was preceded in death by her parents and Brother Jack (Lillian) Dolan. Jane was a loving wife to Roy Ahrens, to whom she had been married for almost 62 years before he received his angel wings in April of 2015.

Jane was not only a wonderful and loving wife; she was also a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. Although she lost her mother at a very young age, she mastered the art of mothering and truly enjoyed being a fulltime mother to her four daughters: Linda (Tim) Wagner of Mantua Ohio, Loretta (John) Allen of Springfield Ohio, Lois (Mike) Leiendecker of Ravenna Ohio and Lisa (Scott) Taylor of Casper Wyoming.

During her lifetime, Jane spent much of her time taking care of people. She had a great passion for volunteering at the schools, where she assisted the teachers and children with plays, fund raising, and reading. She received great joy every time she was able to assist a child in selecting and reading that "right book". She also enjoyed making crafts and sewing.

Approximately three years ago, Jane was diagnosed with dementia. Despite this diagnosis, her passion for life and contagious curiosity never waned. She truly enjoyed the simple things in life, a beautiful flower, mountain views, a bright blue sky, and fluffy clouds. Every trip outside would elicit her excitement which was often followed by the exclamation, "Wow, look at those clouds!" She inspired and reminded us to appreciate these gifts and to not take anything for granted. She taught us to look at who and what surrounds us and to truly appreciate every moment with our loved ones, family, and friends. She was, and will continue to be, an inspiration to us all for living life to the fullest and for not letting anything stand in our way.

Jane is survived not only by her daughters; but by her sister, Mary Ann Krause; cousins, Mary Plank and Margaret Armstrong; grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) Beach, Annmarie (Chris) Mulloy, Gregory Smith, Melissa (Matt) Rutherford, Russell (Suzie) Wagner, and Ashley (Bobby) Simmons; and great grandchildren, Aubrey Beach, Alexis (Jesse) Lewis, Bryce Mulloy, Elise Wagner, and Dominic, Tristan, and Lylah Rutherford.

Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of life will be held, at a later date, in Ravenna Ohio.

In loving memory of our mother, Jane Ahrens, we ask that each day you take a moment to enjoy the blue skies and to, "look at those clouds!" When you do, take comfort knowing that Jane, and our other loved ones who have passed, are walking among them in peace.
