CASPER -- A Memorial service for James 'Jim' Lewis Sterrett, 63, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, with the Br. Rusty Childress officiating.
He died on August 30, 2008, at his residence surrounded by his family after battling a 14 year illness.
He was born on Dec. 12, 1944, in Mitchell, S.D., to Lois Merkel and Lester Sterrett.
He was in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 68, where he served as a Sergeant.
On June 7, 1970, he married his wife of 38 years, Linda Wooledge, in Gann Valley, S.D.
He had lived in Huron, S.D., from 1970 to 73, before moving his family to Green River.
In 1995, he medically retired from General Chemical as an electrician and moved to Casper, where he resided until his death.
He loved spending time with his family, including his two adorable granddaughters, Stephani and Berlyn.
He was a faithful and devoted Jehovah's Witness.
He enjoyed watching his favorite football teams, the Wyoming Cowboys, the Wyoming Cavalry, and the Minnesota Vikings.
He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and traveling.
He was survived by his wife Linda; son, Scott Sterrett and his wife; daughter, Joy Lammers and her husband; and two granddaughters, all of Casper; four sisters, special sister Jan Price and her husband of Yankton, S.D., who always kept in touch, Dorothy, Carol, and Nancy; two brothers, Kurt and Rod; and numerous in-laws and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
