James L. "Jim" Staley, 77 of Casper passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at his home in Casper, Wyoming. He was born on February 10, 1940 in Thermopolis, WY to Henry and Evelyn Staley. Jim attended school in Worland, WY, he left his schooling to help with the family farm. He later joined the Army National Guard in 1957 until 1968. Jim met the love of his life, Judy Lipps and they married on June 6, 1964. Together they had 3 children, Terri, Ann, and Jimmy. Jim worked for Wyoming Machinery from 1972 until 1984, he then went to work for JTL (Knife River) until his retirement in 2002. After his retirement Jim and Judy traveled extensively until Jim was diagnosed with lung cancer seven years ago. Then they focused on his health and their grandchildren, enjoying every moment they could spend together. Jim had a passion for gardening, especially his tomatoes. He enjoyed all that Wyoming had to offer, never sitting still, he was a fisherman, woodworker, and loved camping. His family will always remember Jim with a cup of coffee in his hands. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Staley and Gary Staley; and sister, Elma Jean Adams. Jim is survived by his wife, Judy of 53 years; children, Terri Staley, Ann Marie (Shad) Stewart, and Jimmy (Vicki) Staley; grandchildren, Anthony Hill, D.J. Hill, Mathew Shults, Emily Shults, Jennifer Anderson, Kala Scott, Tyler Staley, Chelsea Staley; great grandchildren, John and Lily Anderson; brother, Bob (Debbie) Staley; sister, Nancy Williams; mother in law, Beatrice Lipps; sister in law, Sandy (Steve) Logan; brother in law, Gary (Peggie) Lipps and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, February 2, 2018, at Newcomer Casper Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Highland Park Community Church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Rocky Mountain Oncology in Jim's name.
