CASPER -- Services for James Perea, 79, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2007, at Newcomer Family Funeral Home with Rev. David Limmer from Restoration Church officiating and military rites accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the Wyoming National Guard.
Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton with Fr. Drew Duncan officiating.
He died July 1, 2007, at Wyoming Medical Center.
He was born July 25, 1927, in Springer, N.M., the son of Joe M. Perea and Flora Mares.
His family moved to Riverton when he was 8 years old.
He attended school in Riverton, then high school in Shoshoni.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950, served in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1952.
He married Carolyn Jean Latta in 1954.
He drove a U.S. mail truck from Riverton to Rawlins, then was hired by the Burlington Railroad in 1957.
The family lived in Lysite, Arminto, Powder River and Guernsey; then moved to Casper in 1985 where he retired in 1989. He was a Raiders fan, enjoyed watching football and being with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Perea of Casper; three daughters and their husbands, Kathy Martinez of Guernsey,
Deb Richmond of Casper and Trisha Brothers of Butte, Mont.; three sons, Mike Perea , James Perea and wife and Brent Perea and wife, all of Casper; two sisters, Frances Lovato and Eloisa Walters, both of Riverton; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Craig Perea; two grandchildren, three brothers, Frank, Joe and Bill Perea and four sisters, Doris Martinez, Beatrice Sedillo, Juanita Baldes and Martha Perea.
