There he worked in the Flight Service Station until changing over to airport towers in Cheyenne and Casper. Later he worked for the FAA at the Oakland and San Francisco towers, and then served as Chief Air Traffic Controller at the Natrona County International Airport until he retired early to care for his ailing wife.
His interests were his children, grandchildren, and some radio operations.
Survivors include his sister, Rosemary, Billings, Mont.; five children, Jim, Jr. and his wife of Albuquerque, N.M.; Steven and his wife, Los Angeles; Carolyn and her husband, Anchorage, Alaska; Margaret and her husband, Denver, and Jeannette in Casper and three grandchildren.
His parents, a sister, Madeline, and his wife, Marcia, who died in 1978, preceded him in death.
