James Edward (Ed) Walters died on Aug 20, 2009 at his home surrounded by family after several years of declining health. A memorial service will be held at Faith Assembly of God Church, 4301 Casper Mountain Road on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 2 pm.
He was born on August 30, 1924, in Albion, IL to Harry E Walters and Blanche (Kelsey) Walters. He married Beatrice (Bea) Michels on September 16, 1942 over 66 years ago.
He served in the US Army Air Force during World War II in the South Pacific. After World War II, he worked as a truck driver in the oil fields of Illinois, Texas and in 1960 he moved his family to Wyoming. There he spent several years hauling heavy equipment for Moss Equipment and Wyoming Machinery in Casper where he was known by his CB handle: "Heavy Hauler".
After retirement he enjoyed wood scroll crafting, reading western novels, being a snowbird in Mesa, AZ, a member of the Whirlwind RV Club and Black Sheep Square Dance Club.
He is survived by his wife Bea and his children Rodney and his wife Virginia of Cheyenne, David and his wife Barbara of Casper, Bona Olson and JR Riggs of Sheridan, a special niece Denise Brashier of Casper, two brothers Dean Walters of Albuquerque, NM, Don Walters of Charleston, IL and one sister Harriett Huff of Olney, IL; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Glendale, sisters Roweena, Marilyn and Barbara, and 1 great-grandson Benjamin Josiah Walters. Newcomer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
