Jackie D. Chatwell, 69 of Casper, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at his home in Casper, WY. A visitation will be 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home. A memorial service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Oregon Trail State Veteran's Cemetery with Full Navy Honors.
Jackie was born August 11, 1945 in Saint Joseph, MO to Jack and Dena Chatwell. He graduated from Greeley Central in Greeley, CO, he then enlisted in the US Navy and spent the next 22 years serving in various theaters around the world, including Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, and both Atlantic and Pacific Fleets. During high school, an avid motorhead, he met Sondra M. Reed, they married August 15, 1964. To this union they had two children, Richard Lee and Julia May. Jackie was long time member of the Sea Wolves Association HAL-3. After he retired from the Navy he pursued various career opportunities while enjoying his outdoor recreations in Wyoming and traveling abroad, including Mexico where he and Sondra vacationed and participated in charity relief efforts.
Jackie is preceded in death by his mother, Dena Chatwell; and a grandson, Christopher Wambeke. He is survived by his loving wife, Sondra; father, Jack (Charlene) Chatwell of Thermopolis, WY; children, Rick (Melissa) Chatwell of Denver, CO and Julia (Chris) Wambeke of Deaver, WY; grandchildren, Steven, Sean, Paul, Kourtney, and Emmilee, Will, and Zac; great-granddaughter, Harper Rose; brother, Bruce (Peggy) Chatwell of AZ; sister, Christine (Dave) Briggs of Colorado Springs, CO; numerous nieces and nephews.
