June 18, 1947 — May 29, 2021

JOHN F. SAVINI (Age 73)

John (Jack) Savini passed away peacefully on May 29, 2021 in Casper, Wyoming. Jack was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 18, 1947. He is survived by his wife of almost 23 years, Debbi Savini; five stepchildren Michel Faust, Aaron Winston, Nathan Winston, Stephen Winston, Lori Winston, and their families; and his sisters June Bruns and Teri Culbertson, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents John (1973) and Rosalie (2019) Savini.

Jack graduated from Wauconda High School, Wauconda, Illinois in 1965. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in English from Illinois State University in 1972 and a Master's Degree from Northern Illinois University, with an emphasis in American Prehistory and Flaked Stone Tools and Weapons, in 1977.

Jack owned and operated two businesses for many years in Casper, Wyoming. One Business, Llano Consultants, provided archeological survey services to oil, gas and mineral companies. The other business was Llano Outfitters, a full-service outfitting business for game hunters using rifles or bows. Jack had many repeat hunting clients who also became his friends over the years. Through Llano, he served as a steward of the land, always aiming to preserve Wyoming's history and wildlife.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He learned to fish with his father on ponds and lakes in Illinois, and on Rainy Lake, Minnesota. He took up archery in college, and eventually became a champion and qualified instructor of the National Field Archery Association Bowhunting Division.

His mother, Rosalie, and his maternal grandmother, Frances Smid, taught him to play poker. He enjoyed playing cards with them their whole lives. He also followed their example as lifelong readers.

He was an avid sports fan, and a lifelong supporter of the Chicago Bears, Cubs, White Sox, and Black Hawks sports teams.

His family will forever remember and be grateful for all the wonderful food he lovingly prepared for them, including innumerable Italian dishes, game and fish dinners, and his incomparable Christmas Eve antipasto platter.

Anyone who ever met him will remember him as a gentle, kind, loving, and generous man. Jack was a devoted husband. He was an excellent example of patience, kindness, and love for his stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved teaching them how to fish and watching them as they learned. He was always there to offer advice, a listening ear, and perspective whenever needed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Tate Pumphouse, 1775 W. 1st Street, Casper, Wyoming, at 1:00 p.m. on August 6th.
