Jack R. Laird, 86, passed away on April 4, 2014, at Casper, Wyoming. Jack was born on the family farm in Wizard Wells, Texas to Floyd and Hattie Laird on April 2, 1928. Jack and his twin sister were the youngest of five children. Jack moved to Casper in 1959, where he met his wife of 54 years, Joyce Laird. Jack was a hard-working and gentle man who loved life and his family and friends, but he couldn't pass up an opportunity to throw a gentle tease at anyone who crossed his path (usually with a twinkle in his eye and a can of Coors in his hand). He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling the world with his wife. He especially enjoyed boating at Alcova in the early days with Joyce and the boys and friends and then later in life after returning to Fort Worth, Texas he and Joyce joined the Fort Worth Good Sam's Club and RV'ed all through Texas and the Western U.S. and Canada. One of his lifelong hunting goals was to harvest an elk. After nearly 20 years of hunting he finally bagged the Elk of his dreams while hunting in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 1988.
Jack Laird is survived by his wife and two sons, Keith (Diane) Tyler and Kenneth Tyler, both of Casper, his sister, Ruby Jo Cross, and two nieces, Wanda Odom and Ann Crostwright, all of Texas.
A gathering and service with food and time to reminisce about all the good times we shared with Jack is planned for May 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tate Pumphouse in Casper. Memorials may be made to the Casper Senior Center.
