CASPER -- A funeral liturgy for Jack Muir Lucey, 84, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. August Koeune celebrating.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
The viewing was at Newcomer Family Funeral Home on Sunday.
He died at the Wyoming Medical Center on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007.
He was born July 7, 1923, in Riverton to Jack & Jeanie (Muir) Lucey.
During World War II, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corp. After pilot training, he was commissioned and served as a B-17 and B-29 pilot. After the war, he returned to the University of Wyoming where he earned a degree in petroleum engineering.
He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and played tackle for the Wyoming Cowboys. He met Kate Swanton, a UW cheerleader. She was the love of his life and they remained together for more than 60 years.
He began his career at Oil Well Supply in Casper. He later moved to Denver to work for Gary Operating and then as a partner with Turner Smith Associates. He was well known in every oil town and oil field from Vernal, Utah, to Bell Creek, Mont.
He was high-spirited and loved to socialize. He did not lose his passion for fun even after losing his voice to larynx cancer. He was always strong, physically active, smart, independent, handsome, funny, caring, loving and a good singer.
Survivors include seven children, Jack Lucey, Bill Lucey, and Patti Davis all of Denver, Pam Lucey of Glenrock, Jerry Lucey and JoAnne Lucey both of Alta, and Terry Brown of Casper; 12 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his sister Myrtle Jean Coleman of Melbourne, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife who died in April of 2007.
