Jack Madison Conner passed away September 15, 2024, at Central Wyoming Hospice &
Transitions in Casper, WY, four days before his 84th birthday.

Jack was born in Olney, Illinois, September 19, 1940. He was the eldest of five children born to
Kenneth W. Conner and Frankie Melba (Clowdus) Conner. When he was a toddler the family
moved to Wyoming and followed the oilfield throughout Wyoming and the Rocky Mountain
West. They settled permanently in Casper in 1955.

Jack attended Natrona County High School and graduated with the class of 1959. He served
with the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962 when he received an honorable discharge. During that
time he was stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany.

Jack was married to Cleo Anthes and one son, Daniel William, was born to that union. They
later divorced. On March 4, 1967 he married Nancy DeBrunner Ownby in Jackson, WY. After
their marriage he adopted Nancy's two young daughters, Debra Ruth and Amy Elizabeth. They
then added a son of their own to the family, Clinton Cody.

In his early working years he held jobs such as moving houses, sheet metal work, highway
construction working on CY Ave widening project. He finally pursued the trade of welding and
worked for various welding shops around Casper. One of his more artistic assignments was to
fabricate the fish for St. Stephen's Episcopal Church which still hangs there today. In 1972 he
started his own oilfield welding business. During the lean years in the oilfield Jack would
supplement the family income as a hunting guide, plumbing assistant, and a gambler. Thank
heaven for those Friday night poker games!

In his younger years, Jack loved hunting, trapping, bow hunting, fishing, hunting for sharp
rocks, planting trees and just being in the great outdoors of his beloved Wyoming. He also
loved to tell stories, jokes and basically loved to talk. He talked so much that one old friend
facetiously dubbed him "Silent Jack". He could strike up a conversation with anyone including
a lamp post.

Jack was preceded in death by a daughter Debra Ruth Conner, his parents K.W. and Frankie
Conner, brother Kenneth R. Conner and sister Sally Ann Bates.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Nancy Conner. Daughter: Amy Conner, Phoenix, AZ
Sons: Daniel Conner (Vickie), Littleton, CO, Clinton Conner (Karen) Lander, WY. Grandchildren:
London Conner and Peyton Conner of Littleton, CO, Ashley Kangas (Michael Sousa) Rixeyville,
VA and great-grandson Clark Sousa. Other survivors include a sister, Betty Jo Moore and a
brother, Keith Conner, both of Douglas, WY and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and
grandnephews. He also leaves behind his much loved dog, Cami, and ten grand-dogs.

If in the future on some distant plane, you should run into Jack, be sure to say "Hi Jack" and he
will surely reply, "Don't ever say that on an airplane"!

At his request no services will be held. The family will have a private gathering to spread his
cremains in his special place. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Central
Wyoming Hospice and Transitions, Wyoming Dementia Care, Casper Humane Society,
MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue or a charity of the donor's choice. The family would also like
to thank all the special care providers at Central Wyoming Hospice outpatient and inpatient
services and Dr. Tabitha Thrasher for their excellent care.
