Ivo Jean Welch, 80, passed away on Jan. 6, 2009 at Wyoming Medical Center. She was born Sept. 4, 1928 to Benjamin Joseph Pipal and Hilda Grace ( Woodraska) Pipal.
After attending Teachers College she taught at a country school. In 1948 she was united in marriage to Richard A. Welch. They made their home in Newcastle, WY for 20 years, where Jean was a homemaker, housewife, seamstress and mother of five children. She was a dispatcher for Schlumberger Well Service for 30 years. In 1970 she was transferred to Gillette, WY and then to Casper, WY in 1972.
Jean was a talented Entrepreneur who owned Jeans Fabrics and taught lingerie sewing classes at Casper College for 20 years, then devoted the remainder of her life to her passion of quilting. She was a member of the Piece by Piece Quilt Club. Survivors include a son, Steven of Casper, daughters, Barrett ( Terry ) Rich of Newcastle, WY, Tia ( Willie) Hansuld of Casper, WY, Kelly ( Bob ) McManamen of Gillette, WY and Marti ( Dave) Hohman of Aurora, CO. a sister, Yvette ( Dan ) Rehurek of Arizona. There are seven grandchildren and one great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 at 2 PM with The Rev. Leigh Earle officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1PM.
