Irl Franklin Maxwell
CASPER -- Services for Irl Franklin Maxwell, 74, will be held Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville with Chaplain Ellis Kaster from Wyoming Medical Center officiating. Burial will be in Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the Wyoming National Guard.
He died Oct. 23, 2006 at Wyoming Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 7, 1932, in Sheridan, the son of James Alfred and Blanche (Stallings) Maxwell.
He grew up in Sheridan and attended schools there. He enlisted in the United States Army and served with the 300th Armored Field Artillery from Wyoming in Korea. He was discharged form the service as a Corporal.
He married Gloria Bettini on June 8, 1952 in Sterling, Colo. He worked for Petroleum Incorporated for 30 years.
He was a life member of the Moose and the Elks in Scottsbluff, Neb., a member of the American Legion in Kimball, Neb., a member of the VFW Post 9439 in Casper, and a life member of the amateur trap shooter association and Rocky Mountain Gun Club. He was 600 short of his 100,000 targets.
He was very active in the Natrona County United Veterans' Council. He belonged to the military order of Saint Barbara.
He enjoyed fly fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife and son, Tom Maxwell, both of Casper; two brothers, Linn Maxwell of Sheridan and Leroy Maxwell of Corona, Calif.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, James Irl Maxwell; a brother, Dale Maxwell and one grandson.
Newcomer Family Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
