IRENE M. LANTZ
Irene M. Lantz passed away on June 5, 2008, at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper, Wyoming at age 88.
Irene was born on April 22, 1920, in Winnett, Montana to William F. and Florence Kindt. The family was living on their homestead outside Winnett when Irene was born; they moved to town a few years later. Irene attended school in Winnett and graduated from Winnett High School in
1938.
Irene met her husband of 53 years, Adam Lantz, Jr., while he was working in the Cat Creek oilfield outside of Winnett. They were married in Winnett on April 18, 1942. Adam was drafted into the Army and they moved to Pamona, California. After Adam was discharged, he went back to work in the oil industry and they moved throughout Montana and Wyoming making many friends along the way. When their oldest son started school, Irene decided to stop following the rigs and they made their home in Glenrock, Wyoming. The family then moved to Casper in 1955.
Irene dedicated her life to making a loving home for her husband and children. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Troop Leader. She attended every event or game her children participated in and supported their choices throughout their lives. Irene enjoyed bowling and was a member of several leagues throughout the years. She also belonged to the 200 Club and 600 Club. She was a longtime member of the Casper Water Ski Club and at the time of her death was the eldest member of the club. She loved going to Alcova Lake in the summer so she could enjoy the lake with her friends - coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, brothers William (Bill) and Roy, sisters Helen Quigg and Fern Kindt, infant grandson Bryan Lantz, nieces Bonnie Stanley of Shepherd, MT and Jeanne Loutas of Casper, WY.
She is survived by her children Jon of Casper, Maralene Spawn of Billings, MT, Mike and his wife Rene' of Dunn Center, ND and Ed and his partner Len Gallegos of Aurora, CO; grandchildren Jennifer Lantz of Austin, TX; Randi Jo Spawn of Billings, MT and Christopher and Jeffery Verley of Killdeer, ND; great grandchildren Alex, Destiny, Michael, Ethan, Angela and Shawn; brother Raymond Kindt and his wife Joan of Worland, WY; and her special nephew John Loutas of Casper. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews, brothers-in~law and sisters-in-law and close friends.
Services will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on June 10, 2008 at 10:30a.m.
Visitation will be at 4:00p.m. followed by a vigil at 7:00p.m. on June 9, 2008 at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 710 East 2nd Street. Casper, Wyoming .
