CASPER -- Services for Irene Hood, 87, will be held on Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at 1 p.m., at Newcomer Family Funeral Home with Eldon Raye officiating. Burial will take place in Wyoming Memorial Gardens.
She died Dec. 18, 2006, at Life Care Center.
She was born April 29, 1919, in Grover, Colo., to Oscar Dell and Maggie May Holler.
She lived most of her life in Wyoming.
She was raised in Wheatland and graduated from Wheatland High School. She was active in 4-H and in Glee Club at the school.
She married Wesley B. Hood on Sept. 19, 1935 at the home of his parents in Torrington. They farmed in Torrington, Hawk Springs, Douglas, and Casper.
They started Hood's Landscaping in 1959 and she helped her husband there for more than 30 years.
She was humble, caring, and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed embroidery work and did many beautiful pieces.
Survivors include a son, Neil Hood and his wife of Casper; a daughter, Norine Lanman and her husband of Houston; two sisters, Rozella Culver of Jay Em and Arla Miller of North Platte, Neb.; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-granchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2000, son, Wendell in 2004; three sisters, one brother, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1760 East 12th Street, Casper, 82601.
Newcomer Family Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
