Howard V. Bynum

October 22, 1948 — April 21, 2016

Howard "Mike" Virgil Bynum, age 67, of Evansville, Wyoming passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Life Care Center of Casper surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Glasgow, Missouri on October 22, 1948 to Virgil and Harriet Bynum (Rucker).

Mike was employed with the traffic department at the City of Casper for 20 years until illness forced him into retirement, but that never slowed him down. He was a longtime member of Grace AME Church, which is where he married Pat and where he instilled a strong faith in Lindee. He enjoyed being around children, so putting his caring heart to good use, he volunteered at the Casper Boys and Girls Club for many years. It wasn't uncommon to see Mike driving around town collecting bicycles and toys for all of the neighborhood children. When Lindee came into their lives he always said it was the happiest day in his life. In 2011 Mike was so proud to walk his daughter down the aisle to marry Troy. He always said he was so proud to call Troy his son. Once the apple of his eye Sydnee was born, he waited anxiously for the days that "Gramp Gramp" and "Gram Gram" (as Sydnee call them), got to help take care of her. He enjoyed taking many trips to Billings to see his mother and father in law, as well as to Riverton and Deadwood to try his luck at the slots. He never met a sweet treat or orange soda that he didn't like. Mikes caring heart and laughter will be missed by all that were blessed to know him.

Mike is survived by his beloved Wife of 36 years, Patricia "Pat" Bynum (Painter), of Casper, WY; Daughter, Lindee Zespy, Son-in-law, Troy Zespy, granddaughter Sydnee Zespy, all of Casper; brothers, Keith Bynum, Mitchell Bynum, and Darrell Bynum, all of Casper; Rodney Bynum (Chris) of Seattle, WA; and sister Mary Lindsey (Larry) of Seattle, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Cedric and Floyd Bynum.

In loving memory of Mike, as education was such a priority to him, the Howard Bynum Memorial College Fund for Sydnee Zespy has been established at Hilltop National Bank, Po Box 2680, Casper, WY, 82602; for Sydnee's education. Donations can also be made in Mike's name to The Casper Boy's and Girls Club, 1701 E K St, Casper, WY 82601. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Newcomer Funeral Home.
