Herman Karst

February 14, 1934 — November 24, 2017

Herman Lee Karst, 83, of Casper, Wyoming died peacefully Friday, November 24th, 2017 at Meadow Wind Memory Care Center after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Herman was born February 14th, 1934. He was raised in Galatia, KS on his family's farm. He lived there until he graduated from Hoisington High School in 1952. He then served his country as a Private First Class in the US Army and was deployed to Korea during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning from Korea he began a family and a successful lifelong career in the oil and gas sector where he established himself as a trusted and well-known figure. Eventually his job with National Supply Company would lead him to work in Casper, Wyoming where he met his beloved wife Joyce to whom he was married for 51 wonderful years until his passing.

Herman and Joyce started and built several successful businesses in the oilfield service industry. Herman was one of the most trusted and respected figures in the industry serving on several board of directors including the Wyoming Trucking Association. His diligent work habits and knowledge of the industry made him a respected leader and sought after expert. His kind heart and unwavering ethics allowed him to provide many opportunities to his friends, employees, and peers.

Herman was a hard worker but he also made time to be a loving father and supporter of his church and community. He enjoyed square dancing but his biggest passions were working with antique cars, auto racing, demolition derbies and supporting his grandchildren in their sporting events and endeavors. He was well known for his sense of humor and infectious laugh.

Herman is survived by his beloved wife Joyce, children; Brenda (Gary) Garrett, Pam Clinger, Kris Patrick, Kevin (Deanna) Karst, Brian Karst, David (Corie) Karst, grandchildren; Cody Patrick, Brandi (Nate) Waterhouse, Kendra (Trent) Mack, Kyle (Lori) Karst, Colter (Christal) Garrett, Zachary (Haylie) Garrett, Jessa Karst and Rachel Yutesler, great grandchildren; Carter Hannah, Sidnee Hannah, Kuttar Edwards, Kreid Edwards, Easton Mack, Cohen Mack, Hunter Waterhouse, Kinsley Mack, Charleigh Garrett, Keller Garrett, brother Wayne (Karen) Karst and numerous nieces and nephews.
