Helen Marguerite Wright Carrell
A celebration of the faith and life of Helen M. (Wright) Carrell will be held
at Highland Park Community Church on November 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m.
Helen was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada on January 2, 1916 to Albert H. and Violet Wright. She was the eldest living child in her family, being preceded in death by two younger brothers. The family eventually moved to Montana settling in Billings when Helen was eight years of age. She graduated from Billings High School and attended business college.
In 1938 she married William O. Carrell in Billings, MT. Together they pastored churches in Missoula, MT and Great Falls, MT before moving to Portland, Oregon to attend Bible College. Before settling in Casper in 1966, Bill and Helen lived in Worland for five years and from 1960-1966 they pastored the Church of God in Newcastle, WY. From 1966-1968 they served as pastors of what is now Highland Park Community Church.
While living in Casper, Helen worked for E.H. Vering, CPA. Then for 10 years she worked for the NCSD at Kelly Walsh High School and East Junior High School. In retirement she volunteered at the Red Cross office and drove for Meals On Wheels. However, her first love was always for her Lord and the work of His church. A woman of deep faith she exemplified a Christ-like life in all she did and left a legacy of love and faith for her family. She loved the Bible and her children and grandchildren relied on her knowledge and wisdom when questions of life arose.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband William after 57 years of marriage, her son Harold in 1967, her parents, sister Florence Hartley and brother Harold Wright. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Smothers (Harry) of Casper, son Norman Carrell (Marcia) of Casper, son Dean Carrell (Susan) of Worland, son Clifford Carrell (Sharon) of Oshkosh, WI, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and her brother Clifford Wright, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen's family is especially grateful to the wonderful nurses and aides at Central
Wyoming Hospice for the excellent care provided her in the final days of her life.
The Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Park Community Church on November 25, 2006. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to
Central Wyoming Rescue Mission, Highland Park Community Church Missions,
or Central Wyoming Hospice.
