Funeral services for Hazel I. Nelson, 86, will be conducted at Christ Episcopal Church in Glenrock, Wyoming at 2 p.m. on Sept. 10, 2010. Internment will be at Glenrock Cemetery.
Mrs. Nelson lost a long battle with Parkinson's disease on Sept. 4, 2010, at Bear River Care Center in Tremonton, Utah, where her family was caring for her.
Mrs. Nelson was born on May 22, 1924 in Lusk, Wyoming the daughter of Morten Frederick Hansen and Hazel Ione Anderson Hansen. Mrs. Nelson was raised in Lusk, Wyoming where she graduated from Lusk High School in 1942. After graduation, Mrs. Nelson worked as a secretary for an attorney in Lusk, Wyoming until her marriage to Lester E. Nelson on Oct. 7, 1945.
After marriage Mr. and Mrs. Nelson lived on the Nelson family farm at Lance Creek, Wyoming until Mr. Nelson went to work for Continental Oil Company. They moved to Glenrock, Wyoming in May 1955 and Mrs. Nelson went to work for Glenrock School District as a cook in 1958 until she retired in 1979.
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson lived at their home in Glenrock until ill health required them to move to Tremonton, Utah to be with their daughter Cheryl and her husband Gary.
Hazel enjoyed cooking big family dinners, growing beautiful flowers, and taking care of her family.
Her husband Lester preceded Mrs. Nelson in death. Also preceding Mrs. Nelson in death were her parents Morten Frederick Hansen and Hazel Ione Anderson Hansen, sister Velma Jackson, and sister Marjorie Lee. Mrs. Nelson is survived by three daughters, Cheryl (Gary) Hubbard, Diana (Dewey) Eskeli, and Katherine (David) Ricker, five grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Visitation can be made at Newcomer Mortuary in Casper, Wyoming. The casket will be closed at the church.
