Memorial services for Hazel B. Hayford, 99, of Casper will be held in Tucson, Arizona at a later date. She died 04-25-2006 at Life Care Center. Cremation has taken place.

B. Hayford She was born 01-31-1907 in Custer County, Nebraska to Willie Thomas and Lillie Thomas. Except for one year in Wyoming, traveling there in a covered wagon, she spent her childhood years in Long Pine, Nebraska and graduated from the Long Ping High School. After receiving her "normal" education, she taught two years in Nebraska rural schools. In 1929 she married Clifford Freeman who was killed in 1943 in an oil field gas explosion at Lance Creek, Wyoming. In 1944 she moved to Casper with her two infant children and her parents.
It was in Casper where she carried on her 25 year career as the office manager for the Bailey School Supply and where she met and married Arthur Orvil Hayford in 1952. Always know for her expertise at pie making and housekeeping she would never miss her weekly pinochle club. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge where she was once Noble Grand and received her 50 year pin. A lifetime member of the Baptist Church, she was honored to have been a founding member of Bethel Baptist Church in Casper.
After retiring they traveled with their good friends, Kyle and Sevilla Day, on many adventurous vacations. They enjoyed Hawaii and South America to name a few of their many travels. In 1981 they moved to Tucson, Arizona. Mr. Hayford died in 1987 and in 1991 she moved to Prescott Valley, Arizona to be near her son.
In Prescott Valley she was an active member of the Robert Road Baptist Church, "Seniors Together" and volunteered at the Prescott Valley Samaritan Center.
She is survived by her son, Ken Freeman and his wife, Sid, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, daughter Phyllis Helfrick of Casper, 3 grandchildren, Roxy Helfrick, Daniel Helfrich and Niki Hurlbut. Four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, a ten year old son, Gene Freeman in 1940, an infant son, Bill, and 2 brothers, Lee and Frank Thomas.
