Harold "Pat" Burd 87 passed away May 22, 2013 at Douglas Care Center. Pat was born in Kanarado, Kansas in January 1926 to Adrian and Emma Burd. Pat was the ninth child to Adrian and Emma. After High School graduation he enlisted in the Navy and completed V-12 training and receiving a degree in Naval Science and Technology. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Pat went to work for the BLM where he helped survey the site of Kortes dam. In 1948 married his wife Beverly. After briefly working for the BLM Pat continued his education at the University of Wyoming where he received his Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Pat went to work for Conoco in 1954 where he worked around the oil fields of Wyoming and North Dakota. In 1977 Pat took an adventure with Conoco and moved his family to Tripoli, Libya. Pat worked for Oasis Oil Company where he managed an oil camp, Gilo in the Sahara desert. Pat retired from Conoco in 1984 where he pursued his passion in life. Pat's passions where his wife Beverly whom he was married to for 65 years. Pat and Beverly had four children Cheryl, Dianne, Dale, Duane.
Pat enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish with family and friends. In the fall hunting trips where always planned around the vacations with Beverly. Pat helped with the organization and planning of the oil field golf tournament "Wildcatters". Pat also was the organizer for the "Senior Wildcatters" golf tournament.
Pat leaves behind his wife Beverly of 65 years. His four kids, Cheryl & Steve Cunningham, Dianne & Greg Smith, Dale and Sheryl Burd, Duane and Sandy Burd. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Services will be June 1, 2013 at Highland Park Community Church at 11:00 am. Interment will be at a private family location at a later date. Donations can made to Central Wyoming Hospice and Wyoming Dementia Care, PO Box 1493, Casper, WY 82602. Newcomer Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
