Gordon L. Roylance

June 24, 1926 — March 14, 2017

Gordon Lorenzo Roylance, a Casper resident since 1957, joined his beloved wife Rose on March 14, 2017. He was 90 years old.

Born North Ogden, Utah, Gordon was the first son of Harold and Janetta Ferrin Roylance. At age 18, he entered the Army where he was trained as an infantryman before boarding the USS Butner in route to the Philippines as part of the 158th Infantry Division Bush Masters Unit. He was honorably discharged from the Army on November 23, 1946, receiving a Bronze Star, American Campaign medal, Asian/Pacific Campaign medal with Two Bronze Stars, WWII Victory medal, Army of Occupation with Japanese Clasp medal, Combat Infantry First Award, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star, and an Honorable Service Label WWII for his service.

Gordon and Rose settled in Casper in 1957 where he drove truck for Cream-O-Weber Dairy, hauling dairy products from Riverton and Rawlins to Casper, as well as delivering milk and specialty items to small stores along his route. After leaving the Dairy, he worked at both Casper College and Jets Technology Institute teaching others to drive big rigs.

His children have fond memories of riding in his truck with him to Riverton, hiking at Poison Spider, picnicking at Alcova, and fishing at Estherbook. They learned about tools and how to use them by helping him finish the basement of their house, about love and relationships by watching how he treated his wife, and about being an adult by seeing him work hard to take care of his family.

A devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend, he will be deeply missed by those who had the honor to know him. A celebration of his life will be held at a later time.

Gordon his survived by his nine children, Ellen Mott (Gary), Gordon John Roylance (Mary Ellen), Jeanne Kraske, Alan Roylance (Kim), Patricia Jackson (Wayne), Danny Roylance (Tami), Diane Vincent, Michael Roylance (Laurie), and Terry Roylance (Ann); twenty three grandchildren; forty one great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

At Gordon's request, no services will be held.
