Gordon Frank Moens, 64, of Casper, WY passed away September 11, 2018. He was born September 4th, 1954 in Casper, Wyoming to Darline (Henderson) Moens and Peter "Bud" Moens. Gordon attended Willard Elementary, East Junior High, graduated from NCHS in 1973, graduated from the Electronic Technical Institute in Denver, graduated from Casper College in 1989 with a degree in nursing, in 1991 completed the Critical Care nursing program, and later he received his Bachelors of Nursing from the University of New Mexico.
He married Susan Coleman in 1978. They were together for 25 years. They had two children, Erika and Kevin, whom he loved dearly.
Gordon had many jobs through out his life, but his passion was nursing. He worked as an ICU nurse for many years and ended his career as the floor manager of the Neuro unit. Many people remembered Gordon and the outstanding care they received from him at the hospital.
As a child he enjoyed playing 2nd base for little league, camping at Soldier Park, and being a boy scout. In his teenage years, he served as Master Counselor for DeMolay and at 18 he joined the Grand Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M. #15. Gordon spent much of his life dedicated to serving others through volunteering, nursing, and helping those in need. He was even Big Brother of the year through the Big Brother/Big Sister program. He never passed a child's lemonade stand without stopping to support them. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, reading, and most importantly playing music, especially on his prized baby grand piano.
He is preceded in death by his beloved brother and best friend, Bruce Moens.
He is survived by his loving parents, Darline and Peter of Goleta, CA, his devoted sisters Linda Glover (Tony) and Brenda Petersen (Glenn), his two children of whom he was so very proud, Kevin Moens and Erika Martin (Jason), his precious granddaughter, Lia Flores Moens, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Casper Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, Gordon would appreciate a donation to Shriners Hospital for Children or International Children's Fund.
