Memorial services for Gloria P. Sparks will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home.
Gloria P. Sparks, born April 20, 1925 in Ekalaka, Montana passed away peacefully at Hospice of Casper, Wyoming on September 29, 2013. Daughter of Bonnie and Lawrence Peabody. The 6th of 9 children. The loss of her father at an early age required that she start work early. Gloria loved riding horses and dreamed of being a trick rider. Married to Alfred Sparks at age 17 in Baker, Montana. They purchased a small ranch south of Marmarth, South Dakota where they raised 5 children. Gloria was a hard worker, and her exceptional cooking skills brought her into the restaurant business. They started a café (Sparkys) in Marmarth. Continuing her restaurant work she moved to Red Lodge, then on to Billings where she opened Eliches House of Pizza. Finishing her career in Casper at Wyoming Medical Center. Gloria was an avid reader, never stopped learning, getting her GED in her 70s, and took college courses at Casper with the goal of writing the history of her life.
Gloria's love for gardening and flowers was evident to all, however, her greatest love was teaching the Bible. When asked by a hospice nurse if there was anything left undone in her life, her reply was "Yes, teaching the Bible." Gloria is survived by her son, Casey (Kim) Sparks; daughters Nora (Ken) Holman, Beth (Jack) Jackson, Melvina (Roger) Martens, Eileen Sparks. Grandsons, Wayne (Kristen) Sparks, Wesley Holman, Jason (Deserie) Jackson, "AJ" (Jennifer) Jackson. Granddaughters, Kenna (Steve) Graunke, Paula Holman, Kari Jackson, Teri (Bruce) Fendig. Great-grandchildren, Mykaila Jackson, Claire and Jack Fendig, and Suri Holman. One brother, Donald (Josephine) Peabody. Two sisters, Maldon Brence, Alice (Carl) Peterson, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her family she leaves behind dear friends in faith.
Interment will be held in Ekalaka, Montana at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah Witnesses in Casper, Wyoming.
