GLENN E. PROVENCE

Provence, 67, will be held at 11:00 A.M. at Newcomer Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 with a reception to follow at the First United Methodist Church downtown, Sonrise Room. Additionally, a prior visitation period will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2006 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Newcomer's.
Glenn was born May 5, 1939 in Denver, CO to Forrest M. and Ina L. (Hudson) Provence. As a child his family moved to Casper and he attended schools there. He met his bride in Casper. On February 11, 1957 he married Wanda F. Nimmo in Lander, WY and they made their home in Casper.
During the next almost 50 years he worked as a hard rock miner, oiler, service technician for heavy duty equipment, and heavy duty equipment mechanic in hard rock tunnel mines, service companies, and open pit mines in Wyoming and brief spells in New Mexico and Utah. He worked in uranium and coal fields all over Wyoming and surrounding border states.
He enjoyed traveling, motorcycles, boating and skiing, fishing in the creeks, hunting, yard work, and his pets. He also enjoyed helping family on the farm with haying projects and enjoyed horses. Over the years he traveled with his family over a great number of states enjoying a variety of places. After retirement he traveled and helped his wife and daughter in visiting and meeting family and sites in their family history research meeting numerous cousins.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, only daughter, Debra (Provence) Meyer, son-in-law, Robert L. Meyer, and only grandson Tyrell J. Meyer. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was pleased to gain his son-in-law and his shout of pleasure over the arrival of his grandson was heard over the mine. He was proud and caring of his own family and also close to his wife's parents and his siblings and their families always assisting and extending a helping hand and enjoying gatherings with them. He is also survived by his brother, Forrest "Frosty" W. Provence and wife Shirley and sister, Joyce Willcox. both of Casper; and one remaining Aunt Georgia B. (Provence) Cooper of Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest (1954) and Ina (1986) Provence; brother, Larry "Joe" Provence (1977); brother, Alvin Dale Provence (1999); sister, Nelda Jean Mayo (2003); and brother, Donald M. Provence (2003).
Glenn lived a wonderful and caring life and was taken unexpectedly while recovering well from a heart surgery on November 21, 2006. He will be missed greatly by family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. He missed those who had gone on before him and we hope is celebrating a reunion with them.
A recommended recipient of memorials might be made to Central Wyoming Hospice Program, 319 South Wilson, Casper, Wyoming who provides a service to families needing home health care.
