Gerald "Jerry" Simpson, 49, of Casper, WY, passed away February 26, 2012 in Spearfish, SD. He was born in November of 1962 in Casper, WY. He grew up in Casper, WY and graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 1980. He married his high school sweetheart Mary Snyder and shared 25 years together. They raised two sons James and Spencer in Cheyenne, WY.
Jerry had a strong faith and a love for the Lord. He loved nature and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping and going hiking. Jerry was an entrepreneur and owned and operated several businesses throughout his life. He always loved playing practical jokes and making people laugh. He lived for his family and enjoyed every precious moment that he could spend with his family and friends.
Jerry was involved in many organizations and activities throughout his life. Growing up Jerry began playing in Little League baseball and continued all the way through 3A with his father coaching him all the way. He was an active Kiwanis member. He loved to sing and became active in Stars of Tomorrow to encourage his son to pursue his love of music.
Jerry was preceded in death by his nieces Ashley Simpson and Jennifer Riddle. He is survived by his two sons James and Spencer of Cheyenne, WY, father Gearld Simpson SR (wife Melva), mother Coletta Betson (husband Don) of Mineral Wells, TX, sister Karen Riddle (husband Jon) of Casper, WY, sister Judie Chitwood (Jeanne) of Casper, WY, brother Terry (wife Theresa) of Casper, WY, brother Tim Chitwood of Casper, WY, sister Laura DuQuette (husband Gene) of Casper, WY, sister Sherry Betson of Mineral Wells, TX. Numerous nieces and nephews. One granddaughter Payge and one grandson Tyler.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 5, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Casper, 332 East Second.
