George "Jack" Tubridy, 96, passed away November 25, 2022 at Life Care Center of Casper.
He was born September 28, 1926 in Casper, WY to George E. Tubridy and Carrie (Lutz) Tubridy. He attended school in Casper, and at the age of 17, requested that his father sign papers for him so that he could join the U. S. Navy.
George was a proud WWII Veteran, serving in the Navy from 1943 through 1945. He served on the USS Conway, USS Saugus, and the USS Bagley. He loved to talk about his time in the Navy and you could hear the same wonder in his voice that he had felt as a teenager, when he spoke about pulling guard duty in Chicago on New Year's Eve, seeing various locations in Japan, and traveling through the Panama Canal.
George married his longtime sweetheart, Joan Clark, on August 23, 1949. They had two children; a daughter, Jan, and a son, Greg.
George worked for the Texaco Refinery in Casper, WY for 34 years, retiring in 1981. In retirement, he was the fixer of all things and kept their home in tip top shape.
He spent the last few months of his life at Life Care Center of Casper where he enjoyed sharing meals in the dining room with two new friends he had made there. He could also be found sitting in the doorway of his room waving and saying hello to people who walked up and down the hall.
George is survived by his daughter, Jan DeBeer (Steve Bozich); his grandsons, Kyle DeBeer (Bryann), Grant Tubridy, and Connor Tubridy; his great grandson, Emerson DeBeer; and his great nephew, J.R. Havens. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Joan; his son, Greg; his parents; his sisters, Eileen Pickering and Gladys Hall; and all the rest of his family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his memory to the Casper Humane Society, Special Olympics Wyoming or Natrona County Meals on Wheels.
