George C. Harper
George C. Harper, 75, of Mills,
passed away peacefully at his
home on August 26, 2009. He was
born on Nov. 21, 1933, the son of
Edna(Oliver) and Ruben Harper
in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Later his family moved to Ridge,
Montana, and then Rocky Point, Wyoming, where he
spent most of his childhood growing
up. In Dec. 1950 he joined the US Navy
and served aboard the USS Lawrence
for four years. After being in the Navy, George worked
many years in the trucking and construction industries.
Mr. Harper was united in marriage to DeeAnn Douglas
and to this union four children were born and then
later divorced. He was then united in marriage to Betty
Colvin and she preceded him in death. George enjoyed
time snowmobiling, fishing, gambling, & flying his
plane. He could always be found in his shop fixing
something. In his later years his passion was for animals
and was always willing to take another in. George is
also preceded in death by his son Butch Harper, his
parents, 3 brothers, And 2 sisters. He is survived by two
daughters, Marilyn Watson (Dan) and Sharilyn Harper,
three sons, Bud Harper (Denise), Mark Wondra and
Jeff Horsley. There are 13 grandchildren and 35 greatgrandchildren,
one sister, Ruby Ballard, three brothers,
Willard Harper (Virginia), Richard Harper (Mardelle)
and Lloyd Harper (Brenda) and a sister-in-law, Illiene
Harper, a brother–in-law, Jerry Garland and numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 31, 2009,
10 AM at the Newcomer Funeral Home with Pastor
Butch Capshaw officiating. Interment will follow in
Wyoming Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family
will receive friends at the Newcomer Funeral Home
on Sunday from 6 to 8PM. Memorial contributions
may be made to the Central Wyoming Hospice or the
Casper Humane Society.
