George Homer Grosso, 85, died April 21 in his Casper, WY, home.
George was born in Bon Carbo, Co., on April 23, 1926 to Steve and Hazel Grosso. He met and married his Beautiful; wife Murielene Knudsen September 6, 1949 and moved to Wy., in 1954. His hobbies include; attending the horse races, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and playing musical instruments.
George had many accomplishments in his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II from 1944 to 1946. He was awarded the American theater ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with two battle stars and a Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on May 21, 1946.
In 1957 George and Murielene moved to Alcova, WY., after Murielene's father died and they helped run the Boat Club with Murielene's mother. In 1962 they ran the Ski Club for a year. They were very appreciated and well liked by everyone in the community of Alcova and the surrounding area. While in Alcova, George started driving a school bus for Natrona County School.
In 1966 they moved to Casper, WY., where he continued to drive school buses and work at the bus garage. In the 70s he won many awards in the school bus rodeo. He retired after 26 long successful years.
George had many friends and was always willing to help them. We all have our own fond memories and stories of him and he will remain close in our hearts and lives forever.
George was preceded in death by parents, sisters Marguerite Curro and Lily Mae Guara. One brother Frank Grosso.
George is survived by his wife Murielene. Children; Beverly (Thomas) Sanchez, Debbie Schrader, Brenda (Mike) Allen, Darin Grosso and niece, Johnnie Lou Gibson. Sibblings; Betty Jane Chelon, Stevie Grosso and Jerry Grosso.
7 grandchildren and 6 great grand children.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, April 30, 2012 at the Newcomer Funeral Home 710 E. 2nd St. Casper, WY. 82601.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Oregon Trail State Veteran Cemetery, Evansville, WY., with Military rites by the Natrona United Veterans Council and Wyoming National Guard.
