George A. South, 83, of Casper, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Wyoming Medical Center.
Services for Mr. South will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Newcomer Family Funeral Home. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Wyoming Memorial Gardens.
George was born February 14, 1924 in Mullen, Idaho, the son of Robert and Allie South.
After graduation, George enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in WWII.
He later married Orbie Brooks on April 16, 1945. They celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary last year. She survives.
George retired from LoBo Incorporated in 1986 as a supervisor in bridge and dam construction. In his free time, he was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved the outdoors.
Other survivors include 3 children, Gregory South of Tucson, AZ, Marda Nickle of Casper, and Peggy Gilbert of Denver; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dixie Elmer, two brothers, one sister, and his parents.
