Gaye Rosalind Meer, 58, peacefully passed away in Casper on March 31, 2010. She was born seventeen minutes before her twin,Gary on November 8, 1951 in Casper to Robert J. and Bonnie "Jeanne" Claytor-Meer, making her their eldest of
four children. She was raised, educated and participated in 4-H, where she once received Best in Show for her lamb, along side her twin and brothers Bruce and Sidney on the family ranch in the Shirley Basin of Carbon county. In 1964 the three eldest moved in with their grandmother, Florence Meer in Casper and began attending Dean Morgan Junior High. That eighth grade year, Gaye received
an award for perfect attendance. Gaye was a successful student and graduated within the top percentile from Natrona County School in 1969. She attended one semester at Casper College that year and married her sweetheart, Tim Miracle on Dec. 8, 1969. For twelve years they raised their two children Melany and Aaron in Casper. During those years Gaye was a member of the Garden Club, learned to play bridge at Casper College and was a member of a bridge club, volunteered as a room-mother in both of her kids classes at Crest Hill Elementary, served a term as president of the Natrona County Cow Belles, and co-owned Shirt Tales, one of the first retail custom t-shirt shops in Casper. She saw the ocean for the first time on a vacation to Jamaica in 1972. It was then that she picked up the love of travel and adventure. She experienced Hawaii, Canada and visited Aaron in Alaska, drove cross-country from Boston back to Wyoming with Melany in 1990 sightseeing Washington D.C. and several of the Rebel Civil War states along the way. As well as several short trips.Gaye was athletic and enjoyed playing racquetball, downhill skiing, pitching horseshoes and of course horseback riding.
In 1982 she and Tim divorced and in 1986 she enrolled full-time at Casper College. She achieved her Associate of Science Degree in 1988 and moved
to Sheridan to begin her new career in radiography. In 1991 she pulled up stakes and moved back to the ranch to embark on her lifelong dream of
continuing her family's ranching heritage. She grew her own personal herd of cattle which produced strong, healthy, top-dollar calves. A feat she was
proud to have almost single handedly achieved. Gaye loved all creatures and always had a dog and a kitty.
Gaye was preceded in death first by Gary her her twin in 1989; then grandmother; father; brother, Bruce, Sidney and mother. She is survived by her uncle, Dick Claytor of Laramie; daughter, Melany and her two children, Cassidy and Benjamin and son Aaron. She was very much anticipating the arrival of Melany's third child in May. Gaye loved all children and was a loving, caring mother and grandmohter. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
