Gary Alan Scharosch, age 59, passed away on Friday, May 27th, at his home on Casper Mountain. Gary was born August 15th, 1956, in Billings, Montana to Derold and Rosemary Scharosch. The family moved to Casper in 1958. Gary attended Casper schools and graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 1974. He attended the Coal Technology Program at Casper College in 1978 and 79. Gary worked in housing construction, as a mechanic for the City of Casper, for Natrona County Parks, and in road construction, before spending many years in the coal mining industry in Gillette, and as an equipment operator at mines in Casper, Rock Springs, and Manville.
Gary had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Gary volunteered for many years with the Casper Mountain Fire District. He was always upbeat, even through personal trials and hardships. He enjoyed spending time at his home on the mountain, visiting with friends, hunting, fishing, and had a lifelong passion for motorcycling.
Gary was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by parents Derold and Rosemary Scharosch of Casper, siblings David (Kim) Scharosch of Casper, Randy (Sherie) Scharosch of Wheatland, Steve (Hazel) Scharosch of Alcova, Cindy (Todd) Hansen of Sundance, Greg (Kathy) Scharosch of Wheatland, long-time companion Lola Coor of Gillette, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be held Thursday evening, June 2nd at 7:00 pm at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, 400 Country Club Road, Casper, WY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 3rd, at 2:00 pm at Saint Patrick's Church. A reception will be held at the church following the Mass and a brief graveside service.
