Gail LeRoy White, 94 of Casper, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 6, surrounded by family at Casper Hospice.
He was born July 2, 1924 in Arapahoe, Wyoming to Jasper Rolin and Ermie Vesta (Mabbs) White, the eleventh of twelve children. He was raised in Arapahoe and Riverton, Wyoming. On July 27, 1944 he married Phyllis Arna Gustin in Riverton, Wyoming. Gail joined the Navy in 1944 serving on a transport ship in World War II until 1946. His ship U.S.S. Riverside transported supplies and ammunition. He was a boiler maker.
Gail and Phyllis raised three children Gaylene, Vern and Eileen after moving to Casper in 1947.
While in Casper, Gail worked as a break lineman for Natrona Motors and a farm equipment and heavy duty machinery mechanic at White Ditching. He also did school maintenance at Natrona County School District and maintenance at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home. Gail also had Gail's Backhoe for about one year. In his retirement years he helped repair equipment for a rental store in Casper. Phyllis and Gail left Casper going to Oregon to be closer to his sister and brother and while he was there he worked for a Ford dealership.
He was a member of the Ghost Town Good Sams enjoying many camping trips in his trailer with them and his family members.
After Phyllis passed away he married Lucile Adams in Riverton, Wyoming. They continued to live in Gail's home in Casper. They enjoyed many camping trips with family members. Gail was so loved by Lucile's four children and their families. Gail shared his birthday with his oldest grandson Chet and his step-daughter Jan.
Gail was very mechanical and was his family's "Mr. Fix-it. He was the perfect role model for all of his grandchildren, teaching them love and compassion as well as dedication and work ethics. His quiet ways and patience were better teachers than any parent's scolding.
He is survived by his wife, Lucile; son Vern White (Susan) of Mesquite, Nevada, daughter, Eileen Shore of Casper.
His Grandchildren: Chet Atkins (Jill), Jana Reynolds, Lee Ann Phillips, Kelly White, Tracy McCoy, Micky McCoy (Melissa), Jason Sellers, Angela Sellers-Swanson (Derek), Kevin Hedstrom (Miranda), Tiffany Robertson (Greg), DeShannon Shore, Sheldon Marie Shore and Ashley Shore. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by his wife Phyllis, his parents, his brothers: Ralph, Cloyd, Earl, Gerald, Vern and Carl, his sisters: Naida, Xenia, Nellie, Enid and Wyoma, his daughter Gaylene and grandson Bryan Sellers.
