Frederick Cubin

Dr. Frederick William "Fritz" Cubin II was called home to be with the Lord on February 22, 2010 following a long illness.

Fritz was born on June 15th, 1938 in Danville, Illinois. Shortly thereafter, he moved with his family to Shelbyville, Illinois, where he spent the remainder of his childhood. After high school, Fritz attended Southern Illinois University and then the University of Illinois School of Medicine. Following a residency in Internal Medicine in Fresno, California, Dr. Cubin served in the United States Air Force for two years during the Vietnam War. While serving in the Air Force, his first child, Andrea Michelle, was born. During this time, Fritz developed a heartfelt love of the West and particularly Wyoming.

Following his discharge from the Air Force, Fritz moved with his family to Casper, Wyoming where he began practicing Internal Medicine. Not long thereafter, his second child, William Clayton, was born.

Over the years, Dr. Cubin grew to be a widely respected diagnostician and physician throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. His love for his patients was only overshadowed by his patients' love for him. The policy at his office was that if a patient called needing to be seen, they were seen that day. If he needed to spend three hours taking an exhaustive history and physical on one patient, he would spend the time. There was truly no limit to what Dr. Cubin would do for his patients.

In 1975, Fritz was set up on a blind date with the love of his life, Barbara. In August of that year, Fritz and Barbara were married. With this marriage came his third child, Bill. Two years later, his youngest child, Eric, was born.

Fritz was a dedicated husband and father. In his life, he loved hunting, fishing, golf, and spending time at his cabin in the Rattlesnake Mountains. He was an accomplished painter and an antique aficionado. Never afraid to speak his mind, Fritz was an outspoken advocate of the second amendment, individual responsibility, and limiting government involvement in the lives of ordinary citizens.

He had a strong and abiding faith in God, was at peace, and was ready to be with the Lord when he was called home.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; his children, Bill, Eric, Andrea, and Willy; three grandchildren, Reagan, Willy, and Jake; and his two sisters, Shirley Drain and Maryanne Reilly.
