A Mass of the Resurrection for Fred V. Roybal, age 92, will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 30, at Our Lady of Fatima Church officiated by Rev. Thomas George and co-celebrant Very Rev. Gary Ruzicka. A Recital of the Rosary for the deceased will be held Sunday, Apr 29th, at 2:00 pm at Newcomer Casper Chapel. A Committal Service will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Wyoming Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Roybal died peacefully at his daughter's home, April 24, 2018. He was born January 10, 1926 in Amalia, New Mexico. The son of Juan and Esperanza (DeHerrera) Roybal. On May 10, 1946, he married Emma Arellano in Costilla, New Mexico. They made their home in Costilla until they moved to Casper in 1961.
Mr. Roybal worked in construction as a cement mason. He belonged to the union Local 299 of Cheyenne until he retired in 1984. Mr. Roybal attended daily mass together with his wife of 56 years at St. Patrick's Church for many years and continued on his own after her passing. He played the guitar and sang beautifully with his wife in harmony up until the time he could no longer hear. He had a wonderful wit that combined humor and common sense. As the patriarch of the Roybal family, he will be sadly missed.
Survivors include his son, John Roybal and his wife, Ann, of Cheyenne WY; two daughters, Anna Marie Wilkinson of Casper; Diana Craig and her husband, Dwight, of Casper; son-in-laws Leo Martinez, Richard Romero and one sister, Mabel Hernandez. Also survived by 14 grandchildren - Fred, Lori, Tammy, Cindy, Richard, Stephanie, Randy, Jaylene, Raymond, Kenny, Melody, Jessica, Heaven; 21 Great grandchildren - Crystal, Hope, Philicia, Gabriel, Nigile, Destiny, Briana, Divina, Miranda, Isabella, Elena, Amber, Savannah, Andres, Brezlyn, Ayson, Zaine, Brenner, Sawyer, Emma, and Keisel; Great-great grandchildren - Christian, Isaiah, Marley, King, Zayne, and Azul.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emma; two daughters Teresa Martinez and Priscilla Romero, one grandson, Gabriel Romero, two sisters Mellie Santistevan and Cleo Martinez, and son-in-law, Greg Wilkinson.
