Frederick 'Fred' C. Howes
CASPER -- Funeral services for Frederick "Fred" C. Howes, 79, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Weldon Treat officiating. Interment will be in Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery.
Viewing will be held on Monday one hour prior to services at the church.
He died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at Central Wyoming Hospice Home.
He was born May 29, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Clarence Thomas and Alice (Morley) Howes. He graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in Detroit in 1945 and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1945 until 1948.
He received his degree in electrical engineering from the Lawrence Institute of Technology.
On Sept. 1, 1956, he married Marilyn Hoffman in Palmyra, Mich. They moved to West Virginia where he worked for Westinghouse. In 1979 the couple moved to Casper and in 1987 he retired from Westinghouse after 33 years.
A very active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, he had formerly served as a deacon.
He enjoyed being with his family, model building, traveling, snow skiing, and working in his rose garden.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Casper; sons, Tom Howes and his wife of Fairmont, W.V. and John Howes and his wife of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughters, Kathy Fanto and her husband of Casper and Nancy Steinberg and her husband of Rawlins; two grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-sister, Virginia Atkins.
