Frank Gerald Holscher

October 29, 1936 — April 21, 2024

Frank Gerald Holscher, 87, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away April 21, 2024 at his home. Frank was born October 29, 1936 to Louis and Kathryn (Hennsey) Holscher in Denver, Colorado. After a short period in Denver and Scottsbluff, Nebraska, his family made their life-long home in Casper, Wyoming. Frank attended grade school of St. Anthony's. He graduated from Natrona County High School in 1954 and from Casper College in 1956 with an Associate Degree.

Frank joined the United States Army in 1958 and served in Germany as a Field Medical Technician. After his honorable discharge Frank married Helen Theresa McVaney on August 12, 1961. They had two sons, Lou and Jim. Frank worked for Safeway before entering his career as a firefighter with the Casper Fire Department, retiring after 20 years as a Captain.

Frank enjoyed the outdoors of Wyoming – especially fishing at his brother, Tom's place on the North Platte and pheasant hunting. His passion in life was all things physical fitness, especially running, which he started prior to the running craze in the 1970s. He ran everyday most days upward of five miles. After he could no longer run he transitioned to working out with his wife, Helen. Frank also loved learning everything he could about military history, music, and sports. He had the gift of humor, which he used to make strangers friends and entertain family and friends. His favorite moments were spent at many family events over the years.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Lou and Kathryn; brother, Tom Holscher; sisters, Kathryn Tripeny and Ann O'Keefe.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, Lou and Jim, and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
