Forrest Hill

Graveside services with military honors will be held for Casperite
Forrest L. "Ted" Hill, 84, on Wednesday, June 14 at 10 am. He will be
interred next to his wife at Highland Cemetery in Casper.

He died June 7, 2006 in Casper. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas,
on January 17, 1922, the son of Iona May and Ransom Lee Hill, and
attended schools in Kansas, Missouri, and Arizona. He moved to Casper
in 1937 and graduated from NCHS in 1940, then attended Kansas State
University and achieved recognition and scholarship in football and
baseball. In his younger years he worked at the Riverside Club,
caddied golfers, worked on ranches, and played two years of semi-pro
baseball.

He enlisted in the Navy in summer of 1942, serving 3 years overseas
in every theater, earning Quarter Master, Quarter Master First Class,
and several medals. Upon returning to Casper in 1946, he worked
surveying for the construction of Kortes Dam and at Standard Oil
Refinery, tending bar at nights.

Ted and Avis Jean were married on October 8, 1946. With other family
members, he purchased the Arcade Bar and built the Alibi Bar. He
later bought Hilltop Liquor. In 1960 he became a real estate
salesman, then a broker in 1963, working for various companies and
then owning his own company before retiring. He served as president
of the Casper Liquor Dealers Association for about 12 years.

He was a past member of the Elks, VFW, American Legion, Rocky
Mountain Gun Club, Amateur Trapshooters Association, and local golf
clubs. His favorite pastimes included camping, fishing, hunting, and
shooting with friends and family. He umpired Little League and Babe
Ruth baseball, and he loved all sports. Ted enjoyed delivering for
Meals on Wheels and donating blood, and nearly reached his goal of
donating 10 gallons of blood to United Blood Services.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Jean, and one son,
Jeff. Survivors include daughters Sandi (Steve) Aeilts of Casper, and
Patti (Greg) Cunningham of Douglas, son Mark (Jeneen) Hill of Casper,
and daughter-in-law Anita Hill of Casper; five grandchildren and
three great grandsons.

The family would appreciate memorials to Meals on Wheels, The
Salvation Army, or the donation of blood in his memory.
