Felipa Manzanarez "The Granny" of Casper, WY passed away on February 5, 2015. She was surrounded by her family and friends and passed away in her home. Felipa was an incredibly loving, compassionate and tenderhearted woman whose faith in God, lust for life, and passion for nurturing her family was unmatched.
She was born to Louisa and Salvador Mandujano, Dec. 7, 1924 in Windsor, CO. Her parents moved to a ranch in McKinley, WY near Douglas. It was there that she blossomed into the hard working and dependable person that everyone knew her to be throughout her life. She moved to Laramie, WY with her young family. It was there that she met Jesus Manzanarez. They were married in 1949 and started a family, which would grow to include five more children. After a brief stay in Tacoma, WA for Jesus' military service, the Manzanarez family moved to Casper, WY in 1962 and it was here that Felipa spent the remainder of her life.
Felipa was not only a wonderful homemaker but also an accomplished businesswoman. As co-owner of Jess's Husky Travel Center, she focused on running the family business for over 30 years. All her family and friends knew Felipa as "The Granny" when her grandchildren became the new central focus of her life, especially with the upbringing of her beloved granddaughter, Angie. Felipa was also involved in her church and took pride in being a part of the Ladies of Guadalupe. She always had a kind word and a smile for anyone she met. She will be greatly missed.
Felipa is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jesus Manzanarez, and her children: Dick Lozano, Alice Rodemeyer, Gloria Pereda, Cindy Tharp, Rudy Manzanarez, Larry Manzanarez, Amelia Manzanarez, and Angie Manzanarez. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and her siblings Rachel Farias, Tony Mandujano and Virgina Viche. She was preceded in death by her parents Lousia and Salvador Mandujano and her sister Sally Rodriguez.
