Farmer "Buzz" Housholder, Jr., 86, of Casper, Wyoming passed away Friday, November 24, 2023.
Farmer, a loving husband, brother, dad, and grandpa was born October 5, 1937 in Springfield, Illinois to Farmer, Sr. and Dorothy (Close) Housholder as their firstborn son. He graduated from Feitshans High School in Springfield, Illinois in 1955; attended Illinois College in Jacksonville, then transferred to Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, from where he graduated in 1960 with his bachelor's in civil engineering.
Farmer began his career at Amoco - then Standard Oil - in Whiting, Indiana, where he met the love of his life, Gerrie Kacer. They were married in 1962 and raised 4 children as the family moved with Farmer's career, finally settling in Casper, Wyoming, from where Farmer retired.
He loved to golf, snowmobile, and coach youth baseball and softball. Farmer was very involved in Casper's civic improvement, sitting on the board of the Platte River Parkway - and serving as President for numerous years. He was especially involved in the development of the Tate Pump House. Farmer was skilled with home improvement and enjoyed remodeling their home, cabin, and several rental homes.
Farmer is preceded in death by his wife, Gerrie Housholder; son, Scott Housholder, and son-in-law, Gary Gilbert.
He is survived by daughter, Holly Gilbert; sons, Jason (Kari) Housholder; and Brett Housholder; siblings, Jay (Sandy) Housholder; Mary (Bob) Pavelick; and Julie (Harry) Losey; grandchildren, Luke and Madison Gilbert; Sheridan (Kade) Renfro; Savannah Housholder; Hayden Thorpen; Emma Housholder; Zach Housholder; and Morgan Housholder; and great grandson, Casey Renfro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Farmer was a kind, patient, and gracious man with a unique wit who will be missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 - 8:00 pm on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at The Tate Pumphouse, 1775 West 1st Street, Casper, WY 82604.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Casper Humane Society or Casper Youth Baseball.
