Evelyn A. Jones Wilkes
Evelyn went to be with Jesus on February 18, 2007 after a lengthy illness. She was born on February 23, 1919 to Harry and Mary (Morford) Grosvenor in Buhl, Idaho. The family lived in various Wyoming towns before settling in Thermopolis, WY where she graduated high school. She married the love of her life Gary W. Jones on April 8, 1938 in Lander, WY. After World War II they settled in Thermopolis, WY where they raised their 3 children. In 1962 they moved to Casper where they owned and operated the Red & White Cafe and Motel until 1969, where she was famous for her cinnamon rolls, cream pies, and Mexican food. They later purchased the Alcova Lakeside Marina. In 1975 Evelyn had to sell the Marina because Gary had a stroke, he preceded her in death on September 7, 1984. She later became an ordained minister and opened the House of Prayer in Casper. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Gilbert and Harry; and her husband Gary. She is survived by her sister Imogene Dickeson of Thermopolis, WY; children Harry (Donna) Jones of Marshall, MN, Frank (Kristi) Jones of Casper, WY and Linda (Corky) Story of Casper WY; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 24 at 2:00pm at Our Father's House. Donations to Casper Meals on Wheels would be appreciated. For further information see www.mem.com
