A memorial service for Evelyn J. White, 92, of Casper, will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel located at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery.
She passed away on October 1, 2013 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Evelyn grew up in her large family in Hutchinson, KS where she was educated, participated in many church activities and selflessly ministered to the needs of her invalid mother as well as taking care of her brothers and sisters. She met Bud White and they married December 23, 1942. They moved to Casper in 1951 where she helped her husband with his auto repair business and raised her three children. She and Bud enjoyed fishing and hunting together.
Evelyn was a wonderful mother, wife and friend to many. She was very generous with her time and love. She was always there to help a friend in need and never stepped away from hard work. Her manner was humble and homespun. She loved flowers and every year her roses, peonies, and flags were the delight to see. She became interested in antiques in 1971, when she became the first treasurer of the Casper Antique and Collectors Club. She was well known for her sparkling Heisey Glass collection and her vintage jewelry. When she traveled to antique shows with her collections she had many repeat customers that later became close friends who looked forward to seeing her yearly.
The family would like to thank the staff at Poplar Living Center for their excellent care of Evelyn and we would also like to thank Bruce Smith, her long-time business partner and friend for his support and care of Evelyn.
Memorials may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice, 319. S. Wilson, Casper, WY 82601.
