Evaristo Juan Lucero

November 16, 1925 — June 17, 2019

Evaristo "Abe" Lucero, 93, passed away peacefully in his home June 17, 2019. Abe was born to the late Margarita & Evaristo Juan Lucero on November 16, 1925, in Pecos, New Mexico.

Abe attended high school in Santa Fe up until his senior year. At the age of seventeen, he left school to join the Navy where he went on to serve in WWII on the USS Maury & the USS Marias out of Pearl Harbor. After being honorably discharged in 1946, he returned home to earn his GED and became a member of the local carpentry union. His work eventually brought him to Casper where he met and married his wife, Susan (Martinez) Lucero. Abe worked the last 18 years of his career as a carpenter for the Natrona County School District. He was a devoted member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He also enjoyed memberships at the Elk's Lodge, the Eagles and the American Legion. Abe was an avid fisherman and an all-around social butterfly. He loved talking to people. Anyone and everyone that knew him, loved him.

In addition to his parents, Abe was proceeded in death by Susan, his wife of 47 years, their only child Arthur, age 57, great-grandsons Brandon and Ryan Konen, along with three sisters and four brothers. Abe is survived by his longtime friend and companion, Barbara Kennedy, granddaughters Andrea Powers, Amy and husband, Michael Konen, of Ohio, three great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and extended family.

A special thank you to his sister in law, Lisa Blackmon, the Senior Companion program, members of the Senior Center, Frontier Home Health, Meals on Wheels, the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, along with the many friends and neighbors that played a part in allowing him to maintain his independence up until the very end. We are forever grateful.
