Evangeline "Vangie" (Roesler) Wright went to be with her Lord on Friday, October 4, 2013. She was born in Baker, Montana, on April 29, 1932, to Fred and Martha Roesler. Vangie graduated valedictorian from Plevna High School in 1950 and afterwards worked for several years in Baker for the County Treasurer. Her own plans to run for County Treasurer were altered when she met Archie Wright, a native of Louisiana who had found work in the oil fields of Northern Montana. They were married on June 22, 1955, in the First Baptist Church in Plevna by her uncle, Reverend Martin Gross. They began their married life in Williston, North Dakota, where their two children were born. After several years, they moved to Odessa, Texas and finally settled in Casper, Wyoming in 1963. Vangie was a dedicated housewife and mother. She was also a faithful member of Boyd Avenue Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. From 1976 to 1991 she spent much of her time traveling with her husband for his job. She was an avid walker for almost 30 years and also enjoyed reading, bowling, golfing and doing puzzles.
Vangie was preceded in death by her husband, Archie in 2011; her parents and brothers, Virgil and Freddie. She is survived by her son, Bruce Wright; her daughter, Tammy Bryce (Joe); her granddaughter, Marci Florence (David) and her two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Abigail Florence.
Vangie will be greatly missed and always remembered for her love of family, self-discipline and forthrightness. Her strong faith became all the more evident throughout her three and a half year struggle with cancer. Glory goes to God for his faithfulness throughout this long journey. Many thanks to all the caring doctors, nurses and aides at Rocky Mountain Oncology, Amedisys Home Health and Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions.
Funeral services will be held at Boyd Avenue Baptist Church on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow. Burial will be at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Central Wyoming Hospice in Vangie's name.
