.
After graduating from Chugwater High School in 1933, Gene went to the University of Wyoming and received a teaching certificate. He then taught in Iowa Center and Chugwater schools and coached basketball. There he married Elsie Johnson in 1938 and moved to Wheatland, working for Blow Oil Company as an accountant. In 1940, they moved to Casper and he worked for Wigwam Bakery, which he soon owned and operated. The bakery eventually became Bunny Bread Bakery, and Gene expanded the business statewide. During his career he also was an inventor and developer, with George Winders, of Electriduct, an industrial over-the- floor extension cord. Gene spent his nights for many years working to patent the product. The business became a local industry managed by Winders. Gene retired in 1969 and pursued his hobbies of boating, fishing, hunting, golfing and woodworking. He and Elsie moved to Lake Havasu, Arizona, and built a home; however, they missed their friends in Casper and returned to their Casper Mountain home. Gene's legacy includes many years of service in the Kiwanis Club where he was noted for over 50 years of flipping pancakes at the annual pancake festival; as an active booster of high school and college sports; establishing a memorial at the Chugwater Cemetery, and founding the Sneesby Family Scholarship at Casper College.
