Eric Jay Sandefer
CASPER -- Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Eric Jay Sandefer, 15, at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Kelly Walsh High School Auditorium. A reception will follow at Kelly Walsh High School.
He died in the early morning hours of July 21, 2006, at the Wyoming Medical Center.
He was born May 23, 1991, in Casper to Bobby and Jeana Sandefer, the youngest of their five children. He attended Bar Nunn Elementary School, Centennial Junior High School, and Kelly Walsh High School.
He had a magnetic personality and everyone who came near him was irresistibly drawn to him. Known for his grand entrances, goofy antics, and one-of-a-kind smile, he enriched the lives of all those lucky enough to know him. He loved with every ounce of his being and would go to almost any length to bring a smile to the faces of those around him.
Those who knew him knew his love for all things extreme. Whether he was doing back-flips off bridges into the Platter River, snowboarding off the garage into snowdrifts, or doing "stoppies" and "no-footers" on his dirt bike, he never ceased to amaze those around him with his willingness to attempt, and his ability to achieve, things that most others would not dare try. His deepest passion was skateboarding. He spent hours working on a single trick, and once perfected, his talent held everyone in awe.
Survivors include his parents, Bobby and Jeana Sandefer of Casper; his two brothers, Ian and Ryan; his two sisters, Elisa and Holly; his niece, Haley; his grandfather, Bob Sandefer of Casper; his grandmother, June Bredemeyer of Casper; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eric Jay Sandefer Skateboarding Fund to further youth access to skateboarding in Casper. Please send donations to: The Eric Jay Sandefer Skateboarding Fund, c/o Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming, 1701 E. K. Street, Casper, WY 82601.
