Elizabeth Ann "Bette" Moravec, 83, passed away peacefully in hospice on March 23, 2013.
Bette was born in Verdel, Nebraska on August 4, 1929 to John and Lydia Kounovsky, the youngest of three children. After graduating from teacher's college in Las Vegas, New Mexico she returned to Nebraska and taught in rural schools.
On October 23, 1949 she married James Louis Moravec in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. As a young couple they lived in Washington, Idaho, North Dakota, Nebraska and Maine and in 1957 moved to Casper.
Bette and Jim had five children, and she was a busy homemaker. She always enjoyed baking and will especially be remembered for her cinnamon rolls, which were "the best in the west." She was active in PTA, Boy Scouts, Job's Daughters, and Blue Envelope Health Fund.
After her husband's death in 1972 Bette went to work at the Natrona County School District where she was a secretary at Central Services and later at Roosevelt High School until her retirement in 1991.
Bette was an active retiree and frequently traveled to visit family. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and became an enthusiastic member of Mended Hearts Club. She also walked three days a week at the Casper Recreation Center, rain or shine.
Bette is survived her son Jim (Laura) Moravec of Chico, California, and daughters Sue (John) Lambrix and Lori (Bob Master) Riddle both of Casper; her sister Irene Sandoz of Verdigre, Nebraska; sister-in-law Mildred Kounovsky of Clay Center, Nebraska; beloved niece Mary (Dave) Snyder of Casper; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends.
Bette was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother John Kounovsky, brother-in-law Lawrence "Sandy" Sandoz, and two daughters Lynn Moravec Roberts and Jessica Moravec Huffman.
Family graveside services will be 11:00 am Friday, April 5, 2013 at Wyoming Memorial Garden.
A Memorial Services celebrating Bette's life will be held Friday, April 5 at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church in Casper.
