Elizabeth Barrett

January 5, 1940 — June 8, 2014

Services for Elizabeth (Betsy) Barrett will be at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church, Wednesday, June 11, 2014.
Betsy Barrett (Campbell) died on, Sunday, June 8th at home after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Her children were with her.
Betsy was born on January 5, 1940 in Great Falls, Montana. She was raised by her grandmother and great Aunt because her mother died when she was seven. She attended Central Catholic High School and then attended Saint Mary University in Leavenworth, Kansas. She met her husband, Tom, when her brother Denny brought him home from the Marines one Christmas and they were married in August 1960. They moved to the University of Illinois where Tom studied engineering and then moved to Denver Colorado where they had their four children Patrick, Kathleen, Michael, and Brian.
They then moved to Northern California living in Petaluma in the 70's where Tom worked in San Francisco. They enjoyed everything about California and raised the children there until Tom was transferred to Casper, WY to continue his career in risk managing for Marsh McLennan, the main client being Pacific Power and Light. While in Casper, they both started the soccer program from scratch, building goal posts in their back yard and recruiting college students to teach and referee the games. The program grew from there and is now a big success in Casper.
When the children were old enough to get home from school, Betsy started her 30 year career in financial services. First working for Dain Bosworth then First Western Securities where she got her Series 7, then on to Wyoming Financial Securities. Duties included back office management, accounting, and giving financial advise to her own clients. She retired at age 65.
Then on to golf, gardening, travel and enjoying retirement. She and Tom enjoyed many trips to England, Greece, Ireland, Germany and Paris and of course traveling around the west seeing the children and grandchildren. She loved to golf with the Casper Ladies Golf Association on the muni course. She was president twice and had two holes-in-one, one possibly being the first ladies hole-in-one during the first summer the Three Crowns Golf Course was open. It was on hole #11. The second one was during club tournament at the muni course, Links #9, and she was on chemo treatment at that time.
Betsy was preceeded in death by her husband Tom and by both parents. She is survived by her four children: Patrick and his wife Mary Anne; Michael Barrett; Kathleen Pesa and her husband Mark; Brian Barrett and his wife Jennifer. Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Kimmy Juarez; Stephanie Harrel and her husband Aaron and their children Emerie, and Everett (born on June 8, 2014); Thomas Barrett and his son Patrick; Erika Barrett; Jamie Pesa; and Joseph Pesa. She also is survived by her sister, Joan Denny; and brothers Denny Campbell and wife Susan; and Bruce Campbell and his wife Brenda, all in Montana.
