CASPER -- A memorial service for Elfriede Ann Raney, 72, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Newcomers Family Funeral Home with Father Kevin Koch of St. Anthony's Church officiating.
She died Oct. 11, 2007.
Born Dec. 2, 1934, in Vienna, Austria, to Anton and Katherina (Michalik) Wancura, she graduated from high school and went to beauty college.
On Sept. 7, 1955, she married James E. Raney in France.
She became an American citizen and enjoyed traveling to Austria every other year to visit her family.
She was a volunteer at Wyoming Medical Center and enjoyed camping, listening to classical music, spending time with her children and grandchildren, crocheting, knitting and dancing.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years; her brother, Anton "Toni" Wancura and his wife; daughters Marie Husman and her husband of Sheridan, Sheila Medow of Casper, and Jean Park and her husband of Glenrock; sons Earl Raney of Sheridan and Ron Raney of Glenrock, and their wives; nine grandchildren; three great-grandsons; a niece; and two great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leopold and Kurt.
